Rachel Carter has been a member of First New Testament church since she was a tiny girl and she surrendered her heart to Christ when she was 8 years old at the church’s Vacation Bible School. Since then, she has been an active member serving and helping in any way she can within the church and beyond, including traveling on various mission trips and helping as a Spanish interpreter on the foreign field.
She serves on staff as the Administrative Assistant to the Pastor and Administrator. She also is one of the worship leaders and truly enjoys praising Christ and leading others to do the same. To simply put it, she loves Jesus and wants to glorify Him in all she does whether that be singing on stage, praying for others in the altar, traveling, tithing, encouraging the Body of Christ, teaching Sunday School classes, etc.
Growing up, her Sunday School teachers and classes instilled within her a love for reading and studying the scriptures and now she serves as the Sunday School coordinator. She is regularly seeking the Lord for direction and guidance with this ministry. The teachers are dedicated to bringing a meaningful study each week, and there are many testimonies of close relationships built through the time spent together in Sunday School.
Kristy was raised in church by a Godly family and has served the Lord since she was a young child. She was married to Clay Furlow for 18 years, before his passing in 2017, after a battle with brain cancer. Together they have 3 children – Sam, Grace and Ben.
In 2001, Clay and Kristy were invited to First New Testament by a family member, and after the very first service they attended, they knew that God was calling them to this church. Kristy enjoyed an almost 20 year career in business, primarily working for Capital One Bank. She retired in 2015, just before Clay was diagnosed. God birthed a ministry through Clay’s sickness, as Kristy wrote a blog and traveled with Clay to minister in various churches. After his passing, Kristy has continued to minister whenever God opens the door.
When she joined the church staff in January of 2019 as the Church Administrator, it was exciting to see how God took many years of professional experience and joined that together with her heart for ministry. She enjoys serving the body of Christ and utilizing the skills God developed in her through her career. The greatest desire of her heart is for God to be glorified through every part of her life.Details
