A PASTOR’S PRAYER FOR OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS

OH GOD let us see that the declarations made here today, the discussions held, are of grave importance and shall have far reach consequences, of which those powers shall be accountable.

Father, help us to see how fractured and volatile the public is

let us see the fear that overwhelms the lives and minds of our citizens: a fear whose origin is not from you but attaches itself to so many concerning issues:

Whether it is from the virus,

Or from economic loss,

Or from the loss of rights

Or the loss of our freedom of speech,

Or the loss of property from previous storms,

Or the danger lurking in our streets from rising rates of crime.

Father, I pray that we will be able to discern that the decisions we make … even if those decisions are made with the sincerest intentions and noble desires, will be ineffectual without your help.

Let us be humble enough to recognize there is no way that we can know what is in the Mind of the Lord, or happen upon the right course of action by our ingenuity, our combined intelligence, or through our investigations and observations.

For your thoughts are not our thoughts and your ways are not our ways, for as high as the heavens are above the earth so far are your thoughts above ours. We must be given your thoughts. Please Father, may we have the faith to receive your wisdom, and the courage to fulfill your desires in our great state.

Father, help us to understand it is your desire to give us your counsel, and to lead us through the most difficult days we have ever faced. You have not left us to solve these problems without You. May we see your desire and love for us; a love so beautifully demonstrated in the giving of your Son Jesus.

And if we must walk without You may we know that you have not forsaken us; rather, we have forsaken you.

Lord I pray that you will give us your thoughts today that we know the Mind of Christ; that we would know what is the right course of action … the course that honors you so that we may posture ourselves to receive the blessings from heaven.

That you would bless our land.

That you would bless our leaders.

That you would be able to bless the decisions that they make.

Because Lord, you are the Prince of Peace … our decisions – though we desire peace and unity, only create division

But Lord, You are the Prince of Peace, and your counsel will bring peace, and comfort, and healing to our devastated population.

And Father, we can’t do that by saying something in Your Name. And Father, it doesn’t happen because that’s what we say we want to do. We cannot produce it. You alone possess the power to give us that peace and heal our people.

And I pray that you give us that peace that the Name of Jesus will be magnified.

As Your ministers, help us understand that we are chosen by You to be Your servants – we are anointed to provide hope and strength from heaven itself: we are anointed to bring peace, hope, liberty, salvation through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to all people everywhere and this is the greatest moment you have given us.

May We Be Resilient.

May We Be Soldiers.

May We Be Peace Makers.

May We Be Courageous.

May We Love Not Our Lives.

May We Love One Another.

May We Live And Die Having Run Our Race … Finishing Our Course, And Fighting The Good Fight Of Faith.

May those who serve in the government: Our Governor And His Staff, Policy Makers, Scientist, And Physicians understand their accountability to you and how their decisions and declarations have served your glory and Kingdom in the earth.

May They Know That Your Hand Is Extended To Help … If They Will Receive It.

May They Know That Your Counsel Is Freely Given … If They Would But Ask For It.

May They Know That Your Presence Is Rest And Deliverance … If They Would But Believe.

They Serve As Your Ministers, Please Lord Help Them.

And we understand that we are all accountable to make the right decisions, for you have appointed us and stationed us in these places of leadership to lead for you and with you, and you are very willing to show us your counsel and give us your power and to fulfill your desires which are good.

For you have shown your love for us in giving us your only Begotten Son Jesus and there is no way we can assume that you are against us when we consider your Son dying on a cross to bring us to you. You want us and You love us, Oh, God may we look to you and your gracious hand and may our State be a testimony to all others what God will do for a people who seek Him.

You are good and kind. You are holy and worthy.

Whatever plans men may make, whatever decisions men may choose, may

Your Will Shall Be Done In This Earth,

And Your Son Jesus Shall Return,

And Every Knee Shall Bow To Him,

And Confess That HE Is Lord,

And HE Shall Reign Over The Governments Of Men …

to you be the glory, and the honor, and the praise … In the Name of Jesus … Amen.
