The groups and gatherings of the Body of Christ at FNT provide a good opportunity to develop stronger relationships among the members and afford the chance to minister more effectively in each other’s lives. As Ephesians tells us, the church body, just as the physical body, can be supplied and built up by all the different parts supplying each other. We hope you can join with us in fellowship and be strengthened in your relationship with Jesus and His body.

We believe our children are the church today, not just of tomorrow and we desire that they grow in the Lord by experiencing and taking an active part in prayer, worship, the preaching of God’s Word, and the altar service. The children participate in the worship time and are then dismissed to attend classes for grades K3-2nd grade.
Henry and Anna Abrahams also minister to our children monthly in a special service called “Fire Place” held the last Sunday of every month for K3 – 5th grade. The focus is to provide children with a place to learn about and grow in Christ, learning about how they are part of the body of Christ NOW, not just when they grow up.
Our Children’s Sunday School classes provide an excellent opportunity for the children to be discipled in the Word of God.
We also provide care for our children age 3 and under during Sunday School and our Worship services. In the nursery, our mission is to honor & glorify God through creating a safe space for His children. It is our desire to foster an environment where we worship, teach biblical values & encourage fellowship amongst our youngest of members, while giving parents the opportunity to worship in our main service.
To create safety & structure in our nursery, we use a check-in system for all children. To add your child to the system, please go to the info desk in the foyer and ask for assistance from one of our Greet Team members. To inquire about joining our Nursery volunteer rotation, please see Beka Burch for details. This is a wonderful ministry to participate in & allows our parents to enjoy our service.Youth

At First New Testament, our young people are special to us. We believe that they are not the church of the future, but the church today. Our desire is to cultivate the gifts God has given them for the common good of the body & to change the world around them for Christ. God uses them greatly in teaching, in music, in missions, in prayer meetings, and many other ways, to encourage the Body of Christ and serve the Lord Jesus.
Besides Sunday School, the youth meet each week for fellowship and Bible Study. Once a month, we meet together with the Young Adults group as a “Collective”. There are also special activities throughout the year, including retreats and mission projects.
To receive weekly updates regarding youth announcements, please see Beka Burch to be added to our Youth GroupMe.Young Adults
Contact: Kayla Murphy
The young adults ministry is centered around giving the college students & young adults a place to minister and fellowship with one another. The Bible says, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching”(Hebrews 10:25). Through this ministry we offer many fellowships throughout the month with the intent of PURSUING unity (Ephesians 4:3) and fostering an atmosphere for the Lord to reveal the gifts He has placed in the members of His body.
We also have a weekly Bible Study where we aim to equip one another with the truth of Jesus and the power of His word. For schedules, locations, and announcements see the website or the associated GroupMe chats.Adult Fellowships
40’s & 50’s
Led by Jacob & Jamie Welch and Brian & Shannon Cannon, this fellowship desires to provide opportunities to build relationships among all our adults in their 40’s & 50’s. Please see the church calendar for the different dates, activities and locations of this fellowship so you can be part of the edification and growth of the Body of Christ.
The FNT church body is a family comprised of all ages. Over 50’s, married and single, come together for special times of fellowship and to encourage one another. God has gifted them to be an encouragement to the Body of Christ and to minister to those in need of friendships and ministry opportunities.FNT Men
Contact: Lee Shipp
Our men’s fellowship is a priority as men are the backbone of our churches and families. Men rooted in the Word of God, men filled with the Holy Spirit and men accountable to one another, are sure to provide a healthy and strong church environment. The nurturing of this is at the heart of every men’s gathering that the church would host. We invite you to join us for our weekly Bible studies, monthly luncheons, frequent fellowships, and yearly retreats. There are also many opportunities to use the gifts and abilities God has given you to serve His body.

We desire as ladies to fellowship together and encourage one another in our walk with the Lord. We believe that women play a vital role in the life of the church, just as they did in the New Testament. As they build relationships with one another, the older can teach, lead and encourage the younger and in turn, the younger can provide strength and energy to the vision and wisdom given (Titus 2: 3-5). The joy of fellowship among all the ages and seasons in life, the richness of our study of the Word together, and the power of faithful and fervent prayer are the heartbeat of our ladies’ ministry.
We invite you to join us for weekly Bible studies, “Ladies Take a Break” events, Lady Prayer Warriors, special luncheons, showers, conferences, and a yearly retreat.

Young Married Couples
Contact: Caleb and Robin Scherer
Caleb and Robin Scherer began leading the Young Married Couples group at the beginning of 2019, with a desire to walk along side and teach the ever growing group of those relatively young in their marriages and growing families.
The young married couples range in age from early 20’s to 40 something, with and without kids. They meet on Sunday mornings in the sanctuary for Sunday school. On the first and third Thursday’s of each month they gather at the church mission house (typically) for prayer, worship, bible study and fellowship while childcare is provided at the church next door.
There are also special fellowship events throughout the year and periodic “supper clubs” for those that want to participate. Anyone desiring to join the Young Married Couples, or with questions about the group, can speak with any of the existing couples and/or Caleb and Robin.Hispanic Ministry
Contact: Rey and Heidys Sanchez
Led by the Holy Spirit, through Rey and Heidys Sanchez, this ministry is engaged in outreach among the growing Latino population in Baton Rouge through demonstrating the love and compassion of Jesus to those in need.
The ministry has two services a week where the Gospel is preached and is starting to hold home meetings to evangelize and disciple new believers. This ministry is providing a wonderful opportunity to reach people from many different countries and has become much like a mission trip. In our group there are nine nations represented which brings diversity and a sense that we are reaching all nations one soul at a time!

Men, come meet with us on the last Tuesday of each month from 12 – 1pm for lunch and a short ministry time. Come from work and bring a friend. Please refer to our church calendar and announcements for upcoming dates and details.Conferences & Retreats
Each September we hold a conference inviting pastors and churches to join our body as we gather to seek the Lord and be encouraged in Him. There are several guest ministers sharing nightly with special times of fellowship. We also host a men’s luncheon and ladies’ luncheon during the week. We have had such powerful, life-changing meetings and we want you to be a part of them. Registration usually opens in mid-summer. Please refer to our church calendar and announcements for upcoming dates and details.
Several weekends throughout the year we hold a conference with a special guest minister to encourage, strengthen and refresh the church and the Body of Christ. We hope you can be a part of these special meetings. Please refer to our church calendar and announcements for dates and details.
Each year we set aside time to get away with specific groups in our church (Mens, Ladies, Young Adults, Youth). This time has proven to be enriching in building our relationships and in providing a refreshing time spent in the Lord. So many in our congregation can point back to these retreats as life-changing moments in the body of Christ at FNT.
Check the calendar or announcements for upcoming dates and registration opportunities.
