Covenant-Keeping Faithfulness – Sarah Saenz

“Therefore know [without any doubt] and understand that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who is keeping His covenant and His [steadfast] lovingkindness to a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments”

Have you ever considered who is like the Lord?

Have you ever seen someone make a promise, an eternal vow, a never ending covenant, and seal it with their own life and blood? Have you ever met anyone that would sacrifice so much to keep a promise?  No one that I’ve ever met.

When you really think about it, it’s pretty astounding. He willingly pledged an oath to a people He has witnessed over and over to be faithless, unworthy, easily swayed, and stubbornly set against Him. Why make a covenant with such people?

I wouldn’t do it! I only make promises with people I can trust or I know have a history of dependability (Even then I doubt!).

But God did. Who is like the Lord we serve? Who else would do this? His covenant-keeping faithfulness is astounding!

The Bible tells us in Isaiah 59:16 that the Lord searched the Earth for someone righteous, but found no one. Not one person!  And so He looked to His own righteousness and adapted it so it could be counted as ours. What! God, why?! Who else is like the Lord?

Truly, His faithfulness knows no bounds! His glory cannot even be expressed with words! But we are to Him a treasured possession! Who else is like this in all the earth?

He wrote the covenant. He knows what’s in it (way better than I do) and He keeps it no matter how many times we stray, struggle, or fail.

In these last days, when the enemy’s plans have become so visible and the evil of this age is no longer hiding, let’s not forgot who we are serving: a covenant-keeping faithful God.

He WILL keep His covenant, no matter what. He always will. It is His nature, His lovingkindness, He must do it.

After all,  who else is like the Lord?

He’s faithful.
