Glorious Intentions
Did you know that the God of the universe has held and seen each moment of your entire life? Do you know that there’s not a thought or detail that He is not miraculously involved in? And, that because of the righteousness of the blood of Jesus every step of yours is ordered?
Sharing this word excites me so much because I believe it to be something God has taught me by His grace over the last 2 years. I believe God has given me a foundation of peace so deep from two passages of scripture; the first being Psalms 139 & the second Psalms 27.
Psalms 139:
“For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written-in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts oh God! How vast is the sum of them, they would outnumber the grains of sand—when I awake, I am still with you.”
To think that the creator of the Universe took even an inkling of time to fabricate every aspect of my being—knitting me together with plans, purposes, a specific personality, pre-planned connections/relationships, and perfectly timed moments is the sweetest thing I’ve come to know. When I take a step back to think of Who we are talking about.. to think of Who took time out of the responsibilities that running a universe entails.. to consider me. To consider YOU! It is humbling. And to think that we weren’t just a passing thought, but a detailed one. So detailed, in fact, that the word says the thoughts HE has towards US outnumber the grains of sand. How beautiful! Yet we lose sight and are sent into a tangent, influenced negatively to our core in an instant because we lost our keys, hit every red light on the way to work after we overslept, didn’t get that promotion, or failed an exam (at least I am).
But what if every instance, even the ones that weren’t planned by us, that were even “accidents” are working together for our good? I can tell you with complete assurance that they are.
And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
There is one consistent thing about our lives, and it is the fact that they are inconsistent. Even if we are capable of controlling pieces of our lives to whatever degree, there will always be the uncontrollable outliers that are thrown into our direction. Now, flashback-before each of us came to the scene- there is our God crafting together a work and testimony of His grace, a tapestry that is waiting to be revealed. Because He saw us then, because He knit us together, because He knows our frame, we can be completely confident in His power to walk hand and hand with us through each of these uncontrollable outliers that come at us. We have nothing to fear. For He is with us ALWAYS. To the ends of the ages. He is working all of these things together for the good for His children. If you hadn’t lost your keys, maybe you wouldn’t have crossed paths with an old friend at a specific time; if the Coronavirus pandemic hadn’t occurred maybe you would be in another country instead of at the grocery store bringing salvation to the cashier. You have no idea what God is working in the midst of your everyday life. But you can KNOW that He is working all things together for your good, because you are His most prized possession created to bring Him glory! A wise friend from our church, Ross Kibodeaux, preached a sermon and something he said really resonated with me. He said, “As children of God we have to understand that everything in our lives is either orchestrated by God or allowed by God.” What an encouraging truth to know that nothing moves outside of Him!
Psalms 27
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.
Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!
How many times I would have certainly lost heart unless I believed that I would see His goodness in the land of the living. If proof is ever needed that God will uphold His children, I am that proof. God has walked with me and carried me through the deepest heartaches and trials, in times when I felt I had no where to turn. With the enemy directly in my face, He stood beside me! He met me in the secret place of His presence. He has given me every measure of grace and every resource I need to continue on by the power of His Spirit. And He desires to be that for each one of us, every day until His return. I say all of this to encourage us as a church to take heart in this hour. Rest in the fact that as you seek His face, and the things above, He is ordering your steps. Open your eyes to where He has you for today and why. Find Him in the secret place. He is working all things to weave a beautiful picture of His grace, to glorify His name.
Let’s be confident because we are His and He is our loving Father that has a perfectly crafted plan laid before us.
God bless,
